The International Residential Code requires new one- and two-family homes and townhomes (dwellings) of not more than three stories must install CO alarms in the general vicinity of each sleeping area. (Effective since adoption of 2009 IRC in January 2009)

Georiga Ruleas and Regulations for the State Minimum Fire Safety Standards (pg 77)
Modifies the Life Safety Code, 2000 Edition to require CO detetction in residences of community living arrangments where gas, oil or wood are used for heating purposes.
